ABOUT

Fözz (pronounced ‘fuzz’) is a one-woman passion project founded on a whim in November of 2021 by Stella Ögmundsdóttir, a fibre artist based in Reykjavík, Iceland.

What started out as a creative outlet for Stella to find her way in the world of visual arts eventually turned into something more. Following a years-long interest in knitwear Fözz was born during Stella’s time studying Design and Innovation at Reykjavík’s Technical College; After skipping school one day and feeling guilty, she felt the need to do something productive to make up for it. Working as a bartender at the time and constantly being asked by her colleagues what she was knitting, she created an Instagram page as a simple way to showcase what she was working on. That impulsive decision to share her work then evolved, her interest in textiles grew, and eventually she started selling her work. Stella’s work has now developed alongside her studies - graduating from the Textiles course at the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts in 2024 - but the heart of Fözz still remains the same.

Everything in the Fözz universe is created freehand by Stella, keeping utilisation and recycling in mind throughout every project. The process is guided by what is available at each time; Fözz works exclusively with locally sourced second hand yarn, all textile waste is kept and eventually reworked into new clothing pieces or artwork. Because Fözz can’t specifically choose the amounts or colors of material, the material dictates the design, making each piece a zero-waste one of one.
